Competence

Architecture

Since the date of Institute incorporation, its Architectural Department has been assigned a special role. Architecture top priority was to assign the transport vehicle with picturesqueness and figured distinctiveness. The human rode the whirlwind dressing it into the new forms not only on the ground, but underground as well, evidencing unlimited intellectual and talent capabilities expanding in the country of Soviets. Such famous architects as Dushkin Alexey Nikolaevich, Fomin Ivan Alexandrovich, the Chief City Architect during the war, Chechulin Dmitry Nokolaevich and etc. designed the Moscow Metro stations. At present three architectural workshops operate in METROGIPROTRANS Architectural Department headed by  Borzenlov L.L.The Third Interchange Circuit, the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya line are in the progress. All workshops are involved in activities related to aboveground railway stations.

METRO PASSENGERS SEE ONLY INTERIOR OF THE STATIONS, BUT THEIR DESIGN IS ONLY FIVE PERCENT OF THE TOTAL SCOPE OF WORK

SUPER-COMPLICATED TASKS FOR US IS OUR ROUTINE
Leonid Leonidovich Borzenkov,
Chief Architect of JSC «Metrogiprotrans»

Engineering and Technologies

Metrogiprotrans engineers’ and designers’ scope of activity constantly expands due to new standards and requirements to modern transportation systems. Traffic intensity and passenger flow in the Moscow Metro is much more than in the cities of Europe. New types of the rolling stock are developed, this affect the process requirements as well.

Daily Metrogiprotrans practice is related to addressing the non-standard situations. The specific feature of compound transportation facilities — aboveground and underground — is availability of many factors affecting the design result. Another non-typical Metrogiprotrans activity scope was design of the transportation hubs and terminals.

Geology, Geodesy and Tracing

Metrogiprotrans Route Department starts its activity at the beginning of design and this activity has the strategic nature. Tracers jointly with the Architectural and Urban Development Institutes (with Institute of Moscow City Master Plan) develop technical justification for laying the line: review urban development situation and commence to perform estimations and development of options — how to direct the line to affect the urban development area to the minimum extent, how to arrange stations in the city, select spatial arrangement solutions supported by topographical survey performed by the Department.

Geotechnical survey makes the basis of each design. It is mpracticable to commence designing without data on the geotechnical structure of the soil body across which the planned tunnel shall run. To perform comprehensive estimation of the body and detect hazardous geological processes and phenomena, Metrogiprotrans has different geophysical equipment (seismic and electric exploration equipment) and special-purpose software.

DISCIPLINE ENGINEERS’ TASK IS TO SEL ECT THE BEST ROUTE OPTION FROM AMONG MANY POTENTIAL ONES

the Head of the Route,
Operation and Geodesy Department

Electric Automation

The Electrical Department participates in development of nearly all facilities designed by Metrogiprotrans: new metro lines, revamp of existing stations, motor road tunnels, pedestrian crossings and etc. The Department prepares all design sections related to power supply of different devices: high voltage and electric traction network, electric traction substations; step-down substations and step-down and traction substations, power lighting, power network, automation and telemechanics of substations and electric traction network, telemechanics of escalators, automation and telemechanics of electrical mechanical units, cable laying out for lines under construction and operating lines.

The Automation, Telemechanics and Communication Department ensures safety of train traffic, assigned traffic capacity, collision avoidance and various communication types, both wired and fiber optic, CCTV monitoring, emergency call points, automatic fare payment system, train radio-communication and data transmission via fiber optic networks from the stations to the Metro Engineering Building.

THE METRO IS THE MOST RELIABLE AND FAST TRANSPORTATION IN THE MODERN METROPOLITAN CITY. ONLY METRO MAY GUARANTEE THE PLANNED TRAVELLING TIME.
Irina Frantsevna Podgornaya,
the Head of the Automation, Telemechanics
and Communication Department

Thermal and Sanitary Systems

The Sanitary Engineering Systems Departments in engaged in design of water discharge, ventilation, air conditioning, heating, water supply systems, smoke protection of facilities and outdoor networks without which it is impossible to imagine the presentdate metro.

The task is to ensure comfortable staying of people in the metro, not only within the passenger zones, but in the service and process premises for all operating staff. The Department employees introduce more advanced design and technical solutions, innovative materials radically changing approaches to engineering solutions for underground facilities into the design documentation of the station facilities.

Metrogiprotrans designs not only the metro facilities and devices, but motor road tunnels, aboveground and underground facilities of different purpose, airports, railway stations, public, administrative and office buildings.

DESIGN OF THE UNIQUE METRO FACILITY IS A CREATIVE PROCESS AND WE TRY TO DEMONSTRATE PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE AND ISSUE DESIGNS OF HIGH QUALITY.
Galine Maximovna Perova,
the Head of the Thermal
Sanitary System Design Department

Integrated Engeneering

The Integrated Engineering Department is engaged in development of the design documentation for structures of permanent and temporary Metro facilities, as well as underground facilities ensuring construction, develops logistics and safety measures for construction employees and environment. Construction management section includes provision of comfortable working conditions in underground mines, their ventilation and water discharge, fire safety measures, arrangement of soil removal. Continuous assimilation of innovative technologies allows for optimization of the Institute design structure. Integrated design issues include metro adaptation for its utilization in case of emergency. For example, the design shall include special flooding protection devices for cases of strong storm rain or rapture of the trunk water line.

IN PRACTICE, METROGIPROTRANS WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINATORS OF CODES AND REGULATIONS FOR DESIGNING THE MOTOR ROAD TUNNELS IN MOSCOW OR IN SUCH METROPOLITAN CITIES, LIKE MOSCOW.

the Head of the Integrated
Engineering Department No. 2

Consulting

Metrogiprotans Institute has the widest experience, training school and reputation developed throughout many decades. The competitive advantage allowing for calling Metrogiprotans the discipline leader is provided by the versatility of the project organization structure. The Institute develops transportation facilities comprehensively, starting from geodetic survey and finishing with the design documentation for each section and each component.

Metrogiprotrans provides services in coordination of project documentation on search, construction, reconstruction and capital repairs of the objects located in the zone of the operating subway lines, including projects of the organization of construction and projects of works. The institute unites more then one thousand different discipline engineers.

DESIGN IS DEDICATION. OCCASIONAL PEOPLE LEAVE NORMALLY. DEFINITE THINKING, ASSIDUITY, IDEA DEDICATION IS REQUIRED FOR DESIGN. MAJORITY OF THOSE ONES WHO WORK HERE ARE THE DESIGN FANS.
